Kosta D'Hiyuta, mixed media, 1.00/1.00 meter. 4.00/1.00 meter.
The work Kosta D’Ḥiyuta takes its name from an Aramaic term meaning “a measure” or “kernel of life” — the minimal vital force that persists at the threshold between life and death. Working with torn paper and rough stitching, the pieces treats the paper as a fragile body, while a crudely stitched vaginal form holds tension between rupture and repair. Created during pregnancy and completed postpartum following a birth that nearly took the artist’s life, the work embeds lived bodily risk into its material process, positioning survival not as metaphor but as a physical, unstable condition.
